Leadership Development Programme
Training

This is in agreement with the latest research that shows the following:

  • Cognitive Intelligence (IQ) determines 15% of the success of leaders, whilst EI accounts for 85%;
  • Research over the past five years shows that top performing leaders in companies demonstrate 21 competencies, 18 being EI competencies and only 3 being IQ competencies;
  • A leader’s mood/emotion has public consequences: the overall positive mood of top management leads to better business results; the mood of a manager, positive or negative, can affect his direct reports within sixteen minutes positively or negatively;
  • This has a huge impact on the bottom line;
  • EI of leaders enhances teamwork and morale;
  • Developing EI improves performance and leads to better relationships at home and work; A leader’s emotions do not only affect all his relations but also his health; how long he’ll live! (www.EIConsortium.org)

The objective of the Tandem Training Leadership Development Program is to: a) Identify your specific strengths, so as to enhance your leadership skills and competencies; b) explain the important techniques and skills required in order for you to be successful in the EI dimensions (personal, emotional, social, innovative, and survival skills); and c) Draw up a development plan to build on your strengths and address your development areas

LDP - Group of people

The emphasis of our Leadership Development Programme is on the development of Emotional Intelligence (EI). This refers to the advancement of non-cognitive intelligence e.g. personal, emotional, social, innovative and survival skills.

Over the last 20 years research has proved the importance of EI on the success of leaders in the workplace and on the bottom line.

Leadership development focuses on empowering leaders to a) achieve extraordinary outcomes through others, b) create cultures where teams follow them with passion and enthusiasm, and c) improve performance and productivity. This is what must be achieved through leadership development. The process facilitated by Tandem Training is a powerful approach since it targets all of these aspects simultaneously by improving the emotional intelligence competencies of significant leaders within large organisations.

There is a difference between cognitive and emotional / social learning. Cognitive learning is connected to the neo-cortex region in the brain, and it is possible to teach people about cognitive competencies in one-day workshops. Emotional competence is learned in early life, and for training to be effective one needs to retune the circuitries from the emotional centers in the brain, particularly those around the amygdala. One, therefore, needs a process in order to be successful.

LDP - Phase 1 to Phase 2

The Each phase is a five-day course consisting of psychometric assessment, individual feedback, training and personal development plans. This can be split up into 3 days followed by 2 days. Three day workshops are also available with the same content as the 5 day course but excluding assessments, feedbacks and development plans.

No longer can organisations ignore the
necessity of Emotional Intelligence.
